The video recording and editing below, is my attempt of putting together some live recordings, experimenting with multi track video and audio.
I certainly know visual things are not the best, but we learn and have learned.
The bands musicians are however, very good, and I am thankful they allow me to show off my skills, (or lack of), with some incredible musical artists playing great music.
Going Native-Jazz Fusion
This is my second attempt at capturing LIVE music on video, but with five cameras. Again the lights gave me headaches. I set apertures based on lights at a low change-over level, meaning low intensity. Naturally they blew out the images when at performance levels. Two cameras down left and right, one camera at front of house mix position, one camera stage left pointed at drummer, those players that never get much attention, LOL. I roved around with the Blackmagic Design 6K Pro with mono-pod for fun up close images. This time I only used DaVinci Resolve to line everything up, color correct, as much as I could and the Fairlight audio mixing within Resolve.
I was able to capture 7 renditions of great music this time. But as you can see, I am still on that learning curve. I did put together a rather cohesive collection, on my own.
Cameras used included; Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Film 6K Pro, iPad Pro 4K, iPhone 4, iPhone 6, iPod Touch.
All editing performed within DaVinci Resolve including audio remixing.,
Radio DeciBella- Progressive Rock
This band allowed me to attempt a music video collection within Studio 4 / Dekkm Studios during rehearsals. The finished product was a 10 minute promotion video for future clients. As time went on, I captured them LIVE at Festival of the Arts in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Cameras used included; Sony Hand-cam 4K, iPad Pro 4K, iPhone 6, iPod Touch.
Assembly through Adobe Premier Pro with studio board audio mix down. Visual effects within Premier Pro for the promotional video.
LIVE Festival video and audio captured with iPad Pro 4K on mono pod. Adobe Premier Pro for assembly.
The VULTURES- A John Mayer Experience
This was very first attempt at LIVE video capture, with changing LED lighting.
At the last few hours before the charity event was to start, I presented the idea of capturing 4 of the songs this band was going to play, LIVE. Everyone was up for the idea, no idea how it was going to turn out. I had never attempted such a task of a LIVE video recording. I had not played with my newest camera so not real familiar with functions. For the sound portion I obtained the LIVE board mix and attempted to remix sound within Adobe Premier Pro and Logic Pro 10. Once I had the sound and video assembled, lined up that is, I transferred over to DaVinci Resolve to try to color correct as everything was over exposed and color was a mess. After many hours of attempting to fix the video portion I just simply added some artistic effects to make it bearable. I had only a couple minutes to turn 3 cameras on, and neglected to adjust aperture and focus as I thought wrong that auto focus would work on its own. WAY WRONG.
The cameras used included; Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Film 6K Pro, iPad Pro 4K, iPod Touch, iPhone 6.
